Trauma (neglect or abuse) causes humans to search out explanations for negative pain producing episodes, often misinterpreting them by assuming a painful false identity to solve the mystery (i.e., I am at fault, flawed, dirty, worthless, not enough, don’t matter and others). False identities lead to a lifetime of aberrant, ineffective, and damaging pain management techniques (e.g., anger, blame, avoidance, substance abuse, eating disorders, workaholism, indulgences, damaging cultural achievement or performance-based spirituality), which guarantee dysfunctional relationships among individuals, families, churches, workplaces and with God. For over twenty-five years Caleb and Emily have ministered alongside Holy Spirit to bring truth and peace to the brokenhearted victims of trauma and its aftermath.
